Olivia Culpo shares advice for new moms, talks baby-friendly home project

When Olivia Culpo was preparing to take on one of life’s biggest roles — parenthood — earlier this year, she wanted to transform her home into a space that was equal parts calming and functional.
This summer, Culpo partnered with Crate & Barrel to help complete her dream home ahead of the arrival of her first child, Colette Annalise McCaffrey, who was born July 13.
Culpo told “Good Morning America” that her design priorities shifted to focus on both beauty and functionality with a new little one.
“I did so much research — maybe too much,” she said, laughing. “I’ve been learning how to balance pieces that are practical with things that still feel aesthetically aligned with the rest of the home.”
“This home is our serene hideaway, a place where we can unplug and recharge,” she added. “Being on the lake brings such a sense of peace, so the mural behind our bed was intentionally chosen to mimic that view.”

Culpo said she and her design team leaned into rich textures like boucle, velvet, brass and wood to give the bedroom a layered, cozy feel. In the dining room, she opted for earthy tones and easy-to-entertain pieces that still feel elevated. “I was drawn toward classic yet comfortable designs that can grow with our family,” she said.

When asked what advice she would share with expectant moms, Culpo said, “Remind yourself you’re growing a human — that’s no small feat. And remind yourself it’s all temporary. Creating a peaceful space was [also] a top priority for me. I wanted to bring the baby into a calm, grounding environment.”
She also emphasized the importance of leaning on others. “If you’re feeling overwhelmed, that’s normal,” she said. “Don’t be afraid to ask for help — chances are, the people around you want to support you more than you realize.”

From elevated essentials to cozy textures and baby-friendly designs, Culpo’s home is a lesson in creating a peaceful retreat for yourself during the most hectic times of your life. As for her favorite baby-friendly addition, Culpo singled out a chocolate brown Nuna high chair in the dining room, which she called “gorgeous, but also so functional.”
