Everyone’s Focus Will Be on Remodeling Their Home Offices This Fall, According to Pinterest

Many people continue to work remotely—so it’s no surprise that home office renovations are top of mind.

In fact, the 2025 Pinterest Fall Trend report shows a surge in interest for personalized, stylish workspaces. Homeowners are clearly trying to figure out how to create office spaces that are functional, fashionable, and above all, affordable.

If you’re looking to spruce up your home office (or even design one from scratch), analyzing Pinterest search trends can help ensure your workspace is looking current.

The office styles taking over Pinterest this fall

Fall 2025 is set to be the season for home office makeovers.

Exactly what those makeovers will look like can be found in the top search trends from Pinterest. The search term “green office aesthetic” shot up by 1,065%, and “luxe office” increased by 2,766% leading into the autumn months.

While the green office trend is all about adding natural and “green” elements, the luxe office theme trades corporate sterile vibes for personality and sophistication.

You can adopt a green home office aesthetic with natural materials like minimally processed wood furniture, plants in natural stone or ceramic pots, and naturally textured fabrics.

“Plants are a big part of greening a space but should be kept to a comfortable and unfussy number, and always meticulously maintained,” says Diana Hathaway, interior designer and color expert at Diana Hathaway Home in San Mateo, CA.

The key to a luxe design is simplicity—choose quality textures and fixtures over busy accessories from a big-box home store.

“Pair an elegant wall color with window treatments, chandeliers, and velvet office chairs or benches,” advises Hathaway.

For shared spaces, carry the aesthetic to all parts of the room so you can direct most of the design elements to the office space.

“Add a few plants and natural pieces to the entire space, or replace an overhead light fixture in a luxe style, to serve the entire room,” says Hathaway.

Going "green" has taken on a whole different meaning this fall.

Other top design trends making their way into workspaces

The terms “art deco office,” “statement tile office,” and “bold color desks,” are also widely searched on Pinterest. Here’s what you need to know about incorporating each one.

Art deco office

Art deco is all about lines and geometry.

“Creating your own art deco office can be as simple as changing the wall color to a muted neutral. You can complete the look with curvy, plush, and upholstered pieces,” explains Hathaway.

Statement tile office

Statement tile has moved beyond bathrooms and kitchens, and into commercial and home offices. Incorporating statement tile into a home office is not impossible, but  does take some work.

“The most popular way to add tile to a home office is through a tile-backed wall above a desk or as a beautiful backdrop to open shelving,” says Hathaway.

Bold color desks

Bold color desks combine the excitement of color with the functionality of a desk.

“The desk should be an accent piece and focal point, so the color does not have to “match” the other decor in your office. Think of it as artwork,” explains Hathaway. It’s pretty simple and straightforward to add it to your office.

There’s an entire science devoted to how humans react to their spaces. A beautiful office space can encourage productivity and positivity—both of which are important when you’re working from home.

“The challenge is to design a space that feels comfortable, while maintaining the needed energy to work and innovate successfully. Air flow and lighting are ways to correct a sleepy office space,” explains Hathaway.

More than half of Americans work on a hybrid schedule, meaning that the "work from home" trend is less of a trend and more of the norm.

Why home offices are getting a makeover now

A study by Gallup found that 28% of U.S. workers work remotely while 51% hold hybrid positions. This continued work-from-home movement has made investments in home offices more prevalent and important than ever before.

If and when you sell your home, a thoughtfully designed office space can be a huge perk for potential buyers.

“A functional home office has absolutely become a selling point, especially when it’s purposefully designed rather than an afterthought,” says Joe Luciano, a real estate agent at Joe’s Homes in Rowley, MA.

He explains that things like natural light, acoustics, built-in shelving, and cohesive design all make a difference in buyer perception. In addition, a well-designed home office can appeal to other homebuyers—not just those who work at home.

“I work with a lot of retirees as well and despite not working anymore, they’re also usually looking for an office space. Having a dedicated place to send emails from or print and review documents is great for the old-timers, too,” explains Luciano.
